MANAGE BY STAGES APPROACH IN PROJECTS CREATES COMPANY VALUE¶

Many companies & project managers are still working without clearly defined project model. Moreover some project models are missing implemented manage by stages principle and as consequence have more issues, problems, risk, new employee learning curve is long, project managers gets limited support, project benefit are at risks and etc.

Project model should have stage-gate approach or be managed by stages. Best practices how to implement those should be:
SIMPLE PROJECT MODEL : Setup simple project model that have clear decisions ( gates) in place that are easy to understand & communicate. Some sort of model approval is needed in the company.
SET UP GATE-KEEPERS : Empower & give authority to experienced person to take gate decisions based on checklist. This person or group of persons depending on company perspective can be either strategic project executive/owner or PMO lead or change authority ( PRINCE2 role) or even senior project manager. Here is decision needed by company.
CREATE CHECKLISTS: Having the checklist on each gate is must not only for guidance but for quality, regular tracking, reminder of important things, risk mitigation, education and much more
ENABLE CHECKLICT APPLICATION: Project each gate checklist chould be filled in by project managers but verification and help should be provided by strategic PMO analyst. That would speed-up stage-gate system value creation.
GATE DECISION STORAGE & COMMUNICATION : Create simple but efficient gate decision storage enviroment that allows secure but easy access as well as simple communication of decisions to relevant stakeholders like project managers, project owners, project executives and other stakeholders ( expectations on communication channel has to be considered)
